ICT Ethics - Foundation
This Key Area is concerned with the appropriate, ethical and effective use of ICT in learning and teaching. At the foundation level there is an emerging understanding of the issues.

- Consistently reinforce yours and the school’s expectations of your students when they use ICT and discuss issues of:
- copyright
- cyber safety
- cyber bullying
- being a great e-citizen
- netiquette and
- what they can do if they ever feel threatened or uncomfortable. You might like to lead them to the NetAlert website or explore the NetAlert CyberQuoll and CyberNetrix resources to help you. This will also assist your students to efficiently learn components of the VELS ICT domain, ICT for creation dimension. Developing an understanding of the implications of their social and ethical responsibilities when using ICT.
- Ensure that your school’s Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy are understood, adhered to and on display for your students.
