ICT Professional Learning - Emergent

This Key Area is concerned with the priority given to ICT in Professional Learning with a particular emphasis on learning and teaching.

At the emergent level ICT professional learning is being undertaken with a view of increasing the integration of ICT into classroom practice.   At this level professional learning is likely to be periodic or one-off rather than an ongoing embedded program.

  • Actively participate in a Professional Learning Team in your school and work together with your colleagues to focus on incorporating ICT into learning and teaching.

  • Set achievable goals through the Reaching Your e-Potential Goal Setting Plan and collect evidence of what you will achieve in a digital professional portfolio which can link to your Professional Learning Plan.
  • Explore the Connect Teacher site to gain ideas on great sites and professional learning activities. Try the topics page.
  • Find out about and attend professional learning that focuses on new ways of learning and teaching using ICT and  then try out new ideas in your classroom. Take some time to read Education Times - on the ePotential page there is a list of upcoming ICT related Professional Learning programs. 
  • If you work in the areas of English, Visual Arts or Science join a Curriculum community from the Curriculum Corporation.  Curriculum Communities supports the development of Information and Communication Technologies literacy for teachers in the following key learning areas – English, Visual Arts and Science.
