ICT Professional Learning - Innovative

This Key Area is concerned with the priority given to ICT in Professional Learning with a particular emphasis on learning and teaching.

At the innovative level ICT professional learning is being undertaken with a view of increasing the integration of ICT into classroom practice.

At this level professional learning is likely to be an embedded program resulting in increased learning outcomes. Such programs could include team teaching, peer coaching or mentoring.

  • Join and actively contribute to online and face to face professional learning communities such as VITTA, ICTEV, ATOM, ACCE, the e-Potential Professional Conversations EdNA, the Becta ICT Research Network or Becta Schools
  • If you work in the areas of English, Visual Arts or Science join a Curriculum community from the Curriculum Corporation. Curriculum Communities supports the development of Information and Communication Technologies literacy for teachers in the following key learning areas – English, Visual Arts and Science.
  • Collect evidence in a digital professional portfolio and highlight your innovative ICT use in your Professional Learning Plan.
  • Attend a wide range of ICT-focused professional development beyond your school and share what you learn with your colleagues. Take some time to read Education Times - on the ePotential page there is a list of upcoming ICT related Professional Learning programs. 
  • Participate in and actively contribute to a Peer Coaching or Mentoring Program.
