Learning & Teaching - Transformative
The Learning & Teaching Key Area refers to the ability to integrate ICT into your learning and teaching - Powerful learning enabled by ICT.
This Key Area has particular reference to the Interdisciplinary Strand ICT within VELS.
At the Transformative Level you are using ICT innovatively to engage students in a way that was never possible before, leading to learning new things in new ways.
To help you reach your ePotential…….why not...
- Continuously explore the potential applications of podcasting, Instant Messaging, web cameras and any other multimedia or creation software and hardware in your classroom and share new developments and insights with other staff.
- Design and implement ICT-based classroom activities involving mixed ability, cooperative grouping and open-ended project work which focus on effective communication and collaboration and encourage your students to find and discuss alternative views, acquire expert opinions, share knowledge and express ideas and consider become involved in, or starting your own Web 2.0 projects. Encourage different teams (within the classroom, school-wide and beyond) to collaborate, inquire, interact and integrate prior knowledge with new understandings.
- Model lessons to other staff demonstrating how you routinely embed ICT, focus on thinking skills and identifying links and relationships. Utilise software such as Kidspiration, Inspiration or SmartIdeas to develop student-driven graphic organisers that will assist your students in visualising their thinking, clarifying their thoughts and identifying relationships.
